Master of Ceremony: CLARA BIJL

Picture
PC: Sabrina Bot
Clara has been entertaining French & English-speaking audiences across North America and Europe for over 20 years with her offbeat observational sense of humor. Clara learned English by listening to rap songs, then she became an internationally unknown stand-up comedian and writer. Clara grew up in the French Alps and then went to school in South Carolina, as you do when you come from France. Then she moved to New York City to become a stand-up comedian. She didn’t mind that her English wasn’t great until someone asked her if she was deaf. That’s when she decided to study with a speech therapist. A few months later, she was able to play up or down certain aspects of her English in order to sound more or less deaf.

Since, Clara has performed stand-up comedy without an accent around the world. She has 2 tours of Edinburgh Fringe Festival under her belt, she’s appeared in a bunch of comedy festivals across the world, she has a comedy album, she’s hosted corporate events, fundraisers, award shows, zoom parties. She wrote for a Swiss comedy TV show, yes, they have comedy in Switzerland; it’s neutral. She punched up scripts, wrote a sitcom about refugees.

Clara has performed with Norah Jones, Paul Anka, Adam Ferrara, Dov Davidoff, Godfrey, Tom Rhodes, Demetri Martin, Richard Lewis, Dana Gould, Jake Johannsen, Patrick Timsit, Shazia Mirza, Rex Navarrete, Gad Elmaleh, Anne Roumanoff, Jon Dore, Greg Fitzsimmons, Robin Williams, Tom Papa, Paul Reiser, Laurie Kilmartin, Scott Capurro & many more.

The truth is that Clara lives for the material, everything she does is to create content: the volunteering, the kids, the marriage, the raising the French cats in America, it’s all for comedy.
