as a Special Guest for the 7th Edition of the FABA

Thierry will receive on stage the Company of the Year Award, and tell us more about his career, Snowflake's success story, and his vision for the future of the company during a fireside chat.  

This year, SNOWFLAKE has been chosen by the Advisory Board to receive this award due to the impressive and fast trajectory since its inception almost 10 years ago, as well as its tremendously successful IPO in 2020.

Thierry Cruanes co-founded Snowflake (with co-founder Benoît Dageville) and currently serves as Chief Technical Officer. He is a leading expert in query optimization and parallel execution. He spent 13 years at Oracle focused on the optimization and parallelization layers in Oracle databases including as lead for the optimization group. Before Oracle, he spent seven years at the IBM European Center of Applied Mathematics working on data mining technologies. Thierry has a PhD in Computer Science with a focus in Database Systems and holds over 70 patents.
